What can I say...besides this bottle is just what I expected it to be. Perfect size (I know if I drink 2 of these, I get my required amount of water for the day), extremely durable (carrying it around by the loop makes it extremely easy), cute design and the pink I had hoped it to be (it's actually a bit darker pink than the pic shows, but I didn't mind). Nalgene delivers yet another great BPA free water bottle. LOVE my pink wide mouth tritan water bottle, it pretty much goes EVERYWHERE with me, even when spending a full day at Disneyland!I had been using a very old water bottle for far too long - it was free from Eddie Bauer. I always had a suspicion that it was not BPA free, but I finally decided to check and of course, it was not. I immediately went on a search for a bottle that was BPA free and of the same size (1 Quart) while also being durable. My research led me to the Nalgene Tritan and I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I got one in Slate Blue and one in Spring Green. They do not leak whatsoever and I love them both!
The bottle broke on me today. It was full of water and I dropped it from a height of no more than two feet, it cracked completely near the lid. Get a camelback podium Big Chill instead, it is so much better and the insulation is bar none. I ordered it around the same time and I use it daily on bike rides and it has yet to show any signs of wear or damage. You wont spend your afternoon mopping the floor and picking up ice cubes. So what if Nalgene is made in America? If it does not last whats the point? Skip this product.I first bought collapsible water bottles wholesale at the beginning of my Sophomore year of high school. I had just joined the tennis team and needed something that could hold enough water to keep me hydrated with when playing out in the hot Texas sun. Though I don't care much for it being BPA-free, it is a plus. I could have used a metal bottle, but I hate the metal taste that comes with them.
I use this bottle to collect and treat drinking water on back country hikes. This last hike, I missed a catch when my son threw it to me from the creek and it fell about 10 feet onto rocks below. Not a scratch- even though I just knew it was cracked wide open, it was just fine. It is calibrated on the side for oz and milliliters , which is helpful. The wide mouth makes it quick and easy to collect stream water. The lid is easy to screw on and off and is held captive by a retainer. It's a little heavy, but to me it is worth it in sturdiness. I suppose a collapsible bottle would work but I prefer this one. I'd buy it again if I needed another bottle.
I really like the color, it's girly, feminine and family friendly. But I was in a hurry today, and as I was rushing out the door, I might have gently grazed the bottle against the metal front gate. The front gate's been painted over, so it shouldn't be rough because paint is generally smooth and a little soft, right? But when I took a look at the bottle, there was a scratch on it. I thought that the plastic these bottles are made of are supposed to be indestructible. What happened. I would have been very pissed if that gentle scrape caused a leaky hole in the bottle. And I also noticed the underside of the cap where the ridge is between the actual top and the screw top is might be a little bit fragile because it's not really pink all the way around, I might have turned it a little too tight and caused the plastic to warp, or shift out of place? Well anyways, these two things make me wonder if these are genuine Nalgene bottles. I'm still in the first week of use and already I feel like I am handling a liability. But it carries water!
